Last weekend

We truly had an awesome weekend. “Everything is awesome”, yes we saw the Lego Movie and I’ve had that song randomly stuck in my head all week.

Anyway last Saturday my friends son hung out with Mason and I. We started the day off at Lowes Build and Grow building Valentine’s boxes, I was surprised how much the boys enjoyed it since it was a heart thing but then again it has hammers and nails to do with it ;) Then on our way to grab lunch the boys were having a “girlfriends” conversation in the back seat, when I said you boys are too young for that my friends son goes “it’s because we’re sexy”(he’s 7 lol).

Then we ended the day and met some more friends at the theater for The Lego Movie, and I was a little surprised how good it was. It had all the adults laughing. So, if you get the opportunity go see it you won’t be disappointed. I wouldn’t say I’m strict about sugars(okay some would say I am) but when we were in line to buy snacks the friend goes I want a large icee and a candy, after I said I don’t think so you can have 1 sweet(and usually I don’t let Mason have any sugars at the theater, remember you have to sit through a whole movie!) he goes but my Mom usually let’s me get them both, sorry kid that won’t work on me ;)

And then Sunday we woke up to SNOW! It was so pretty and fun for a little while. We had a nice relaxing day at home.

Shrek the Musical Review

Shrek the Musical out on DVD/Blu-Ray!

Unless your hiding under a rock somewhere I’m sure you have seen the animated film about Shrek and Fiona. My family loves it and honestly I loved it before Mason was even born, it is very cute and has catchy songs.  The Musical was great too; it had a ton of songs, the makeup, wardrobe and sets were amazing,  it was funny. It kept my 5 year old’s attention the whole time, he was laughing so hard in the beginning where Shrek was scratching his butt.  I would have loved to see it on Broadway but this is the next best thing and watching it at home is a lot easier for children because you can pause it to use the restroom or get something to eat. So, make some popcorn, grab your family and transform your living room into a Broadway Theatre :) It would also make a great Christmas gift! Hope you enjoy it as much as my family did.

For those of you who don’t know anything about the story Shrek ;)

Shrek The Musical tells the story of a swamp-dwelling ogre who goes on a life-changing adventure to reclaim the deed to his land. Joined by a wise-cracking donkey, this unlikely hero fights a fearsome dragon, rescues a feisty princess and learns that real friendship and true love aren’t only found in fairy tales.

Featuring a fantasic score of 17 all-new songs, Shrek The Musical was filmed on stage to capture the magic of a Broadway performance and stars an amazing celebrated cast including Brian d’Arcy James (Shrek), Sutton Foster (Fiona), Daniel Breaker (Donkey), Christopher Sieber (Lord Farquaad), and John Tartaglia (Pinocchio). The film was shot live on Broadway with 10 cameras and directed by Michael Warren. Now you can bring the magic of Broadway to your home and get the best seat in the house when the Deluxe Edition Blu-ray and DVD arrives on October 15th!

“I was given a copy of the Shrek the Musical DVD for my review, however all opinions expressed here are my own.”

The Croods – a must see!

The Croods (2013) Poster
coming to theater’s march 22!
Mason and I were able to go to an advanced screening of The Croods! I will just say from the trailers I wasn’t too impressed and thought it was just going to be just another kid movie that I had to sit through. Well, I was very surprised how good it was, I watched the whole thing with no day dreaming ;) and was sad when it was over. It was such a cute story, lots of funny parts, made me teary eyed even, loved the 3D and usually not a fan of 3D movies either. Mason loved it and kept his attention the whole time, keeps talking about how much he wants to go see it again. Kids and adults of all ages will love it.

PS. On a side note, I was very impressed by AMC theater’s snack selection. They had a smaller soda and popcorn combo, and the kids pack was a good size popcorn, fruit snack and a water bottle option! Good job AMC!

We were not compensated in anyway, we did receive advanced screening tickets from 20th Century Fox. However, all opinions expressed here are my own.

Weekend Recap — Reality

Well, the weekends over and it’s time to get back to work and the to-dos!
But first here’s our weekend recap. (Yes, most of these photo’s you can find on my instagram but whatever)

Friday after I picked Mason up from school we met up with some friends and played at Frog & Kiwi.
We then headed home and ate lunch, I didn’t have work and it was very sunny so we decided to spend a little time at the local beach. It was so beautiful out, I really can’t wait for spring/summer!!
I love beautiful pink sunsets! Saturday was pretty mellow, the only thing we did was go to lunch with my parents and the grocery store.
Sunday was family day. It was a movie and lunch kinda day. The only reason I go to Red Robin is for these parmesean garlic fries, yeah everything else is good but nope this is the only reason I go :)
We saw the movie Escape from Planet Earth, cute kid one. And so glad they finally released a PG children’s movie to the theater, it’s been too long. We had a lot of waiting time for our movie so we spent some time in the games, I believe this is Mason’s favorite part lol ;) Used to love the Loews theater with the big comfy recliners, but starting to really dislike it with the new reserved seating. Unless you go on a weekday morning or order online you won’t find seats. The first showing we arrived 30 minutes early to purchase tickets well they only had 1 left (1pm showing). Yes, it was opening weekend but really! So, we bought for the next showing which only had 3 seats left and they were front row, so we waited 2 hours.
I guess no more last minute movies, it’s something you have to plan in advanced HA!
Now…back to this week. We’ve got a lot of big things coming up, planning, ect.
Lots to do!!
Mason’s 5th Bday
Huge birthday with all friends, family and classmates? Big birthday with family and some friends? Theme is already chosen. At a park or at home? It’s not going to be a huge pinterest worthy party(haha, who am I kidding it won’t ever be, I’m not crafty).

Spring cleaning
I’ve made a “unclutter” list and actually started this morning with Mason’s room. I make lists for everything, it just helps me lol.
Here is the first pile and his room isn’t half done, by the way he really didn’t have any problem with saying goodbye to this stuff(very surprising!) but just in case I better make a donation drop off asap.

Movie Reviews

I love watching movies, before a kid I was at the movie theater at least once a week. The past two weeks I’ve seen three new movies and thought I’d write reviews on them ;)

Breaking Dawn part 2
Yes, I’m a Twilight nerd  ;) This was my favorite movie of the series. The movie was very good, the only thing I’ll say is the ending had me on the edge of the seat. I’m sad it ended :( The only thing I didn’t like about the movie was the computer generated baby, why did they have to do that, so creepy! I’m actually going to see it again tonight with some friends.

Rise of the Guardians
I love that Mason is getting older and enjoys going to movies. I suggest taking your kids to see this one this holiday season, it was very good. It kept Mason’s attention the whole time, he even asked to watch it again right after it got over with. The boogeyman was in it, honestly it was nice they didn’t make him too scary, Mason didn’t get scared once. I may have shed a tear or two, happy tears :)

Red Dawn
The remake was okay, the best part was probably Chris Hemsworth. It had plenty of action, but the movie just seemed too long for me. And it was only around 1 1/2 hours long, as long as a kid movie?!
